Kent Photographer Remembering Manchester
Amelia was nominated by her mum for an “Every child is beautiful” photo shoot after she witnessed the awful terror attack at the Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena and is the first child to have a photoshoot as a result of my campaign. She and her mum, Lisa traveled all the way from Sheffield to my studio near Maidstone in Kent, which was a huge undertaking for them with all they have been through. I was very flattered that they came from so far to have me take photos of them. Amelia wanted to do something to commemorate the people who died in the bombing, so I suggested that we create an image with a candle to represent each of the 22 victims.
We had a lot of fun at the shoot and started by creating the image above.
You can read more about Amelia’s story in the Manchester Evening News
After the photoshoot, Lisa, Amelia’s mother, wrote the following for me to post on my blog:
“Amelia and I were both present at the Manchester bombing experiencing and witnessing some very traumatic and life-changing experiences. Since the bombing, Amelia has struggled on a daily basis and has become very isolated, lost weight and day to day normal activities are a task. Imelda invited Amelia over for a shoot to make her smile. She wanted to do a picture to dedicate to the victims of that terrible night and the result is simply breathtaking. The shoot itself was so good for Amelia, to see her having fun and smiling like a normal 12 yr old girl should be was beautiful. She forgot all her anxieties and have a fantastic time with Imelda.
As Amelia’s mum, I cannot thank you enough for everything and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Amelia smiled again and that is all down to you “
