PHOTOGRAPHY BY IMELDA BELL CHILDREN AND FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER MAIDSTONE KENT AS SEEN ON THE BBC
22 CANDLES – REMEMBERING MANCHESTER
On Tuesday morning, the phone rang, and to my surprise, it was someone from BBC South East Today. They said they had seen a story in the Mirror, and wanted to confirm a few details. They wanted to check that I was based in Kent. I told them I was based near Maidstone, so they asked if I was available if they sent round a camera crew to interview me a bit later that morning about the “Every Child is Beautiful” project and the session I did with Amelia to create the image “22 Candles – Remembering Manchester”
A while later, Claudia, the producer rang me, and she an a cameraman came round to interview me. They also sent a crew to visit Lisa & Amelia in Sheffield, and filmed us at both ends of the country for the piece to go in the evening news that night. So what do you think, can I know claim “as seen on the BBC”
BBC South East Today – aired on 9 August 2017
I was very nervous watching it, but I actually found I was quite emotional. I’m very happy to have helped Amelia on her journey to deal with the atrocities she saw that night.
We are so grateful for the amazing response this photo and the story behind it has been received. Relatives of victims have contacted Lisa and said how much this means to them and what a great tribute the image is to their lost loved ones.
My original blog post on Amelia can be found here
